Tim Burton Tree

Last year, while on a photo workshop to the UP with Monte Nagler, we stopped in Mackinaw to spend the afternoon photographing the bridge and the park. While walking around the park I became enthralled with a dead birch tree. The black and white pattern of the striped bark, and the way the black branches reached up to the sky reminded me of something from a Tim Burton movie. I spent a good 20 minutes photo graphing this tree. It’s funny how when on big photo shoots something small can capture your interest for so long. The Mighty Mac bridge was right there, and I was focused on the sunlight on a dead tree. As a result, I think I have a few abstract images that I happen to really like.
